Fees & Charges at Wongaburra

Whilst our dedicated Admissions Team can discuss fees and charges in more detail during your tour or upon application, a summary of the fees which you may be asked to pay at a Wongaburra  are as follows:

  • A basic daily fee. This covers living costs such as meals, power and laundry. For some people (concessional/fully supported residents), this is the only fee they are required to pay. The maximum basic daily fee is 85% of the single basic Aged Pension daily payment.
  • A means-tested care fee. This is an additional contribution towards the cost of care that some people may be required to pay. Centrelink/DVA (Services Australia) will work out if you are required to pay this fee based on an assessment of your income and assets, and will advise you of the amount.
  • An accommodation payment. Everyone who moves into an aged care home negotiates a room price before moving in. Whether you are then required to pay this price will depend on your Asset Assessment conducted by Centrelink/DVA (Services Australia), who will advise in writing which accommodation payment type (RAD/DAP/DAC) applies to you, based on your income and assets.

Please note: it is highly recommended that you seek independent financial advice to decide which payment option works best for you.

Room Configuration and Pricing

Room prices range from $350k – $550k,
commonly known as Refundable Accommodation Deposits (RADs)

With the exception of Accommodation Fees/Deposits (which are negotiated with Wongaburra  directly), all other fees and charges are mandated by the Australian Government (i.e. Department of Health, Department of Veterans Affairs, etc).

Residents with total assets less than $61,500 will be classed as fully supported and will not be subject to a RAD or Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP), however every resident, including supported residents, will have to pay a Basic Daily Fee, as determined by the Commonwealth Government Department. Any resident who has total assets greater than $61,500, Centrelink/DVA (Services Australia) will determine the RAD/DAP, or Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC).

Mandatory Note: every prospective consumer of Wongaburra must submit an Asset and Income Assessment to Centrelink/DVA (Services Australia) prior to, or at the time of admission. Until Wongaburra receives the most recent confirmation letter from Centrelink/DVA (Services Australia) stating the Asset Assessment outcome, residents will be charged the appropriate fees in relation to DAP/DAC, Basic Daily Care Fees and Mean Tested Care Fees.
