Fees & Charges

Basic Daily Fee
The Basic Daily Fee contributes towards everyday living expenses such as meals, cleaning, laundry, and utilities. For some residents, including those who are fully supported by the Australian Government, this may be the only fee payable. The maximum Basic Daily Fee is set at 85% of the full Australian Single Age Pension and is reviewed by the Australian Government.

Means-Tested Contributions
Some residents may be required to contribute towards the cost of their care through Means-Tested Contributions. These contributions are determined by Services Australia (Centrelink) or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) based on an assessment of income and assets. Means-Tested Contributions may include:

  • Hotelling Contribution – contributes towards accommodation-related services such as meals, cleaning, and laundry.
  • Non-Clinical Care Contribution – contributes towards the cost of personal care and support services.

Services Australia or DVA will advise you in writing if you are required to pay these contributions and the amount applicable.

Accommodation Payment
Before moving into residential aged care, a room price is agreed upon. Whether you are required to pay the full accommodation cost, a contribution towards it, or no accommodation payment at all will depend on your income and assets assessment conducted by Services Australia or DVA.

You will be advised of the accommodation payment option applicable to you, which may include:

  • Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) – a lump-sum payment.
  • Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) – a daily payment.
  • Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC) – a daily contribution determined through means assessment.
  • A combination of these payment options

We strongly recommend seeking independent financial advice to help you understand the available payment options and determine the arrangement that best suits your individual circumstances.

Room Pricing

Wongaburra offers a range of accommodation options with room prices ranging from $450,000 to $650,000, commonly referred to as Refundable Accommodation Deposits (RADs).

Accommodation costs and fee arrangements are determined in accordance with Australian Government legislation. While accommodation deposits and fees are agreed upon directly with Wongaburra, most other aged care fees and charges are regulated by the Australian Government through agencies such as the Department of Health and Aged Care and Services Australia (Centrelink/DVA).

Accommodation Costs

Residents with total assessable assets below the government threshold may be eligible for financial assistance with accommodation costs. Those assessed as fully supported will not be required to pay a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) or a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP).

Residents whose assets exceed the applicable government threshold will have their accommodation contribution assessed by Services Australia (Centrelink/DVA). Depending on their financial circumstances, they may be required to pay:

  • A Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD)
  • A Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP)
  • A Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC)
Basic Daily Fee

All residents, including those receiving government support, are required to pay a Basic Daily Fee. This fee is set by the Australian Government and contributes towards day-to-day living expenses such as meals, cleaning, laundry, utilities, and other services provided within the home.

Asset and Income Assessment

All prospective residents must complete an Asset and Income Assessment through Services Australia (Centrelink/DVA) before admission, or as soon as possible after admission.

This assessment determines:

  • Eligibility for government assistance
  • Accommodation payment requirements
  • Means-tested care fees (where applicable)

Until Wongaburra receives the official Asset and Income Assessment outcome from Services Australia, residents may be charged the applicable fees, including:

  • Basic Daily Fee
  • Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) or Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC)
  • Means-Tested Care Fee (if applicable)

Our Admissions Team is available to guide you through the process and answer any questions regarding accommodation pricing, government assessments, and aged care fees.
