“When she was well, our mother chose Wongaburra as the place she would like to go if she needed supported living. And indeed that time came.
Mum was at Wongaburra for four years. At every stage of this part of her life, Wongaburra staff were on hand to guide our mother and us through how to maintain as much independence as possible.
We liked the inclusiveness of Wongaburra as a community, with family able to visit any time, to join trips out, to have meals together over the bbq or in the small private dining room. Staff were kind, supportive and friendly.
We created Mum’s rooms as a miniature home – bringing pictures, photographs, and furniture; making sure she could continue her favourite hobbies. Her private phone and internet access meant we could maintain contact as before.
We also enjoyed family bbqs and get togethers in the outdoor spaces provided for these purposes. Mum being able to stay in her room to the very end of her life was a comfort.”
